Meet the teachers ...
Mrs. Sharon Collins
My name is Sharon Collins and I am the instructional leader of the 6-8 Learning Community. This is my fourth year teaching at Northern Bay College. Prior to this, I spent 11 years teaching in Werribee. This year I have enrolled in a Photography class and will be learning a language as well. I strongly believe that you are never too old to learn or try something new! I enjoy Bikram yoga, walking my dog and photography. I love cooking, travelling, spending time with loved ones and technology/gadgets.
Ms. Jan Bentley (PC1)
Hi, my name is Jan Bentley. I grew up always wanting to be a teacher, and here I am, teaching at Northern Bay College! I am looking forward to working collaboratively with staff, students and families to support everyone in our 6-8 Learning Community. My interests include music, song-writing, reading, watching movies, being creative, researching family history, travelling, using computers and spending precious time with family and friends.
Mr. Ross Cuthbertson (PC2)
My name is Ross Cuthbertson and I am the mentor teacher for PC2 this year. This is my second year teaching at NBC Peacock Campus and I am looking forward to working in the Years 6-8 community in 2015. When I’m not teaching I enjoy spending time with my family camping, surfing, going on bike rides and taking my two kelpie dogs for an early morning walk along the beach. I also enjoy participating in and watching sport, especially AFL and the mighty Cats!
Mrs. Colleen Marshallsea (PC3)
My name is Colleen Marshallsea and I am one of the mentor group teachers in the 6-8 Learning Community. I have been at NBC for many years teaching at all year levels and carrying out several specialist roles such as Reading Recovery, Primary Welfare and Literacy Coach. I have lived in Geelong all my life and am a loyal supporter of the Cats. I enjoy walking my dog, going to the beach, reading and spending time with my family.
Ms. Deb Collins (PC4)
My teaching career has afforded me many special moments but none more than the opportunity each year to work with another new group of students. I returned to University in 2003 to study ‘Special Needs’ education. I have been working at Northern Bay College since August 2011 and this will be my fourth year in the 6-8 learning Community at Peacock Avenue campus. When I am not teaching I enjoy playing Masters Softball, a sport I have been involved in for over 45 years as a player, coach and administrator. 2015 sees my team travelling to Japan to play at the foot of Mount Fuji. I also love nothing more than being outside enjoying time with my horses, dogs, working in the garden, travelling overseas or enjoying time camping and exploring our wonderful country.
Mr. Luke Vella (PC5)
Hi. My name is Luke Vella and I am relieving Sandi Warren while she is away on maternity leave. I have only recently entered into the teaching profession following a career change. Having lived in Melbourne most of my life, I moved to Geelong 3 years ago to commence teaching. I have represented both Victoria and Australia in several sports, am a keen gardener, wonderful cook and consistently travel to domestic and international locations. Having visited over 20 countries, my favourite activities have included skydiving in New Zealand, hot-air ballooning in Turkey, Easter in Jerusalem, ANZAC Day at Gallipoli, entering the Giza Pyramids in Egypt and experiencing the concentration camps in Germany and Poland. I am excited to be starting the year with Northern Bay College, supported by the amazing 6-8 learning community teachers and support staff.
